Accident Loan Car Vs. Rental Car. What’s The Difference And When May You Need Them?

One of the first things many people think of after their car is involved in a car accident is, “How am I going to get around without my car?” and “How long will I be without my car for and how am I going to continue on with life as per normal?” Often the answer to these questions is a rental car. But what if I said you may have the right to a rental car, where you will not be liable for the rental costs? In certain circumstances, the answer to this may be an accident loan car.

Many people may say, “Yes please, I will have the accident loan car over the rental car if I am not liable for the rental costs”. Unfortunately, not everyone is entitled to an accident loan car. Eligibility for an accident loan car is determined by, among other matters, whether you are not at-fault in a car accident involving more than one car.

If you qualify for an accident loan car with Right2Drive, you will not be liable for the rental costs provided you assist us in the recovery of those costs from the at-fault party or their insurer and otherwise act in accordance with the terms and conditions of our agreement. There are also other benefits you can experience by applying for a car with Right2Drive.  We offer a delivery and pick-up service, provide a car similar to your own, a zero insurance excess so you can drive with peace of mind and we don’t require a bond.

So, when might you require a rental car? If you are at-fault in a car accident, you won’t be eligible for an accident loan car with Right2Drive so to minimise disruption to your life, you may need to consider hiring a rental vehicle.  Unfortunately, this means you may be out of pocket to cover the rental costs, or alternatively, this may be covered by your insurer if you have ‘hire car cover’ included in your insurance policy and we may be able to provide you with a car.

If you find yourself involved in an accident with another car and you weren’t at-fault, complete our “Am I Eligible” form or complete an online application and a member of our team will be in contact with you to discuss your application.
